Hotels in Jakarta's Old Town (colonial district)

Welcome to Jakarta!

Let us help you find a budget or luxury hotel in this sprawling capital of Indonesia. Home to 10 million people — plus another 30 million in its suburbs, Jakarta accounts for half of Indonesia's economy. Its vast metropolitan area (along the north coast of Java) is second in size only to greater Tokyo.

Most travelers choose a neighborhood in its central area (Pusat) for their stay. Within this core, Menteng is a popular upscale residential district with hotels and parks. It borders the Sudirman Central Business District, full of offices and major hotels. Kemang, a few miles south, is home to many expatriates as well as cafes, boutique hotels, and universities.

On the north side of Jakarta, traces of Old Batavia (the 18th-century Dutch colonial city) remain in the Kota Tua district (often called "Kota"). Cobblestone Fatahillah Square has museums, cafes, and a canal. Rent bicycles to explore this charming district of hotels, shops, and restaurants.

Choose a hotel in your favorite part of Jakarta. Then explore the rest of the scenic Indonesian island of Java, including Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya!
