Description: Vesak is the main Buddhist religious festival.
During this time, people celebrate the triple anniversary of Lord
Buddha - his birth, his attaining of Enlightenment and his passing
away into Nirvana. Also known as the Buddhist Festival of Light,
colourful bamboo-framed lanterns adorn the interior of every home
and incredible luminous displays decorate the streets of most towns. |

departement stores, restaurants and hotels throughout Jakarta.

A quick glance will tell you that there
really is quite a bit going on in Jakarta.
Of course most of the events are geared towards the local population
and as such the language used will be Indonesian - but don't let
that hold you back - go, (especially to any dance or puppet show)
you'll be surprised how warmly you are welcomed.
